Once, snorkelling in the ocean, I was floating above a shallow coral reef shelf. As I snorkelled along, the shelf gave way to a 800+ metre drop. I panicked and stopped breathing, then started breathing, then stopped again. In the end, I had to get out of the deep water and back above the shelf.
